Mission 01
Environmental Conservation
Bush fires, illegal logging and unmanaged waste damage Madagascar's forests, rivers and coastline every year. Our conservation work starts in and around Antananarivo and extends to other regions through our partners.
Reforestation
We take part in national reforestation days and plant trees in and around Antananarivo. Seedlings from nurseries are planted on land at the edge of towns and in degraded forest.
Clean-up days at natural sites
Members, volunteers and travellers clean beaches, riverbanks, parks and forest trails used by visitors. The waste is collected, sorted and recycled where possible. These days are also a chance to talk with residents and visitors about pollution.
Waste collection, recycling and composting
We work with local authorities, businesses and residents on waste sorting and on the collection of plastic, glass and paper. The materials go to partner recycling centres or are reused by local artisans.
We also run composting training and help set up community composting sites.
