Project 02 · Craftsmanship & Heritage
Preserving Local Craftsmanship
Celebrating local artisans, safeguarding traditional skills and helping ensure that Madagascar’s craftsmanship continues to be valued and passed on to future generations.
Tourism as a market for artisans
Travellers visit artisans' workshops, see how they work and buy directly from them. These sales help artisans keep their trade going.
Sustainable materials
We encourage artisans to replace rare woods and fibres with less endangered woods, recycled paper, natural dyes and recycled plastic.
Passing skills on
Workshops with artisans, schools and cultural institutions teach young people traditional techniques.
